Search Marketing Reporting
What do I need to know?
The first report you see may be of interest and can give you an indication of what areas need urgent attention, but most importantly it sets a benchmark for future reports. Having completed your Keyword & Keyphrase Research, you know what you want to be found on, so now you need to know how those phrases are performing.

Choose your Search Engines
Which Search Engines do you want to be found on? Don't forsake all others worshiping at the altar of Google! Quite often, results will appear more quickly on other engines giving an indication of Google potential as well as the fact that the others still represent a significant proportion of searchers globally.
Do you need to report seperately per country? Analysing detail logs from the UK only or other countries can give you an understanding of your market penetration.
How are these phrases performing?
What is their rank? What page are they on? This is the acid test!
Keyphrase variations & profitability
It is all very interesting if you have #1 positions globally for phrases that describe your offering but are they generating traffic? Compare your ranking reports with server statistics to see if users are getting to your site by these phrases. What actions are they taking on your site if they do?
Your server statistics should also be able to tell you if users are using qualifying prefixes or suffixes to find you. These can give inspiration for different variations to optimise for. |
